President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to restore the Export Expansion Grant ,EEG, which was suspended early last year, Segun Awolowo, Chief executive of Nigerian Export Promotion Council of Nigeria ,NEPC has said.
Awolowo who was speaking during a fact-finding visit of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment to the headquarters of NEPC in Abuja recently said that his council and exporters would eagerly await the restoration of the EEG as it would assist to further boost the country’s export volumes and earnings.
The Federal Government’s Export Expansion Grant which had been in place for over 20 years usually offers financial incentives to local exporters who increase their export volumes or value.The EEG is usually administered by the Nigerian Import Export Bank,NEXIM along with other relevant trade agencies.
