Waymo has selected a new facility in Dallas (Texas, United States) as a hub to test its fleet of autonomous trucks, reports FreightWaves. The company recently stated that it has started deploying a fleet of 13 autonomous Peterbilt trucks on the I-10, I-20, and I-45 interstate highways in Texas.

Julianne McGoldrick,Waymo’s spokesperson, said, “Operating in a major freight hub environment like Dallas, we can test our Waymo Driver on highly dense highways and shipper lanes, further understand how other truck and passenger car drivers behave on these routes, and continue to refine the way our Waymo driver reacts and responds in this busy driving region.

It also enables us to further advance our weather testing in a diverse set of environments.” Waymo joins a list of tech companies conducting autonomous vehicle (AV) operations in Dallasincluding Aurora, Nuro, Kodiak Robotics, and TuSimple.
